Anyone got any news from opening weekend in South Australia? Any tales of spectacular retrieving efforts in the extreme heat?

Cheers, Jason.

Long suffering husband, Andrew, went to duck opening in South Australia last weekend, with great expectations.

He arrived home a day earlier than expected, so that in itself was an ominous sign.

Andrew had never been to duck opening in South Australia, so was looking forward to the trip with five other hunters. They stayed near Renmark.

The weather was very hot. The airconditioned caravan did not help. The temperature was 48. Apparently Adelaide had its hotest day since 1922, where it reached 45!!!!! Where Andrew's party was staying it was the hotest on record.

The hunting was terrible. Only a couple of ducks were bagged on Saturday by each hunter, and they "worked" hard.

Andrew had a lend of a friends tinnie (sp) and camouflage material.

He ended up with a bent propeller, lost trailer rubber and a lost engine pin. All repaired this week.

Oh well, that's hunting. I am glad I stayed at home, got to read until 3am with the light on and the airconditioning buzzing.

He also lost 15 decoys on the way home!!!! LOL. He took Crisp, our yellow bitch, who suffered the heat along with them all.

Hi Guys,

A little bit different in the South East. Noel left on Thursday rang me Friday morning complaining of the cold as he only had a sweatshirt on and Rick had his heavy jacket!!!

He didn't get much opening morning, after they had set out the decoys and hide Friday, the wind changed and when they went out Saturday the water had disappeared!!!. Still came home with a number of duck fillets and didn't get back until 7 Sunday with dinner in his hand!!

Retail therapy went very well, pity about the head the next morning - very nice drop of chilled white drunk and drunk and drunk.
