It is with reget that I have to inform members of the retrieving fraternity of the passing of Peter Reekie on Sunday evening.
Peter was an integral part of retrieving in WA, in fact he was instrumental in forming the Retriving Club of WA,and was still heavily involved with the organisation of the club. Last year he took on the mantle of Patron, and just last weekend saw the running of the inaugrial "Peter Reekie Trophy" All Age trial.
Peter recently handed in his Championship Judges licence having judged many trials including our State Championship several times.
Peter was always very encoraging to anyone new to our sport, and many of our current competitors owe a degree of gratitude for Peter's training classes.
Sincere condolences to Lynne and his brother Bill

My sincere condolences to Lynne & family & Peters family.
Peter will be sadly missed, in my time in retrieving no one has done more for our sport.
Peter ran training classes, judged, worked at trials in every capacity, got pidgeons, towed either the caravan or trailer to most of our trials.
He always welcomed everyone.
It is a really sad time.

Peter had a lovely send off today. Everyone who spoke mentioned his sense of humour, constant cheerfulness and seemingly unlimited energy.

He was always keen to help those new to retrieving and, as a judge, put on some interesting and challenging trials.

Happen I'll miss thee lad!!!

This is Lynne Strang posting from my daughter's account as my password is not working.

Thanks to all the people who posted messages here about Peter. They are much appreciated. Thanks also to all those who phoned or sent the many cards and flowers.
Almost the whole WA retrieving fraternity of triallers past and present turned up to honour Pete and give him a wonderful farewell. He only had moderate success in trials, but was dedicated to our sport for 40 years. He worked tirelessly, always in a good humour and quietly helping many. judging by the numbers of people at the chapel, he has a place in many hearts.
Vale Peter, my partner and soul mate
