Jack's Guard of Honour

Postby John Lawton » Mon 27 Feb 2012 8:19 am

Jacks daughter Vivienne contacted me on Sunday night to confirm the arrangements for Jacks funeral.

The Funeral service is to be conducted on Thursday at Nelson Brothers Chapel, 81 Kororoit Creek Road Williamstown
Commencing at 10 a.m.
Followed by a burial at the Footscray Cemetery, Geelong Road, Footscray.

We mentioned to Vivianne that their had been a suggestion to have a guard of honour for Jack at the service.
Vivienne and Anne was delighted at this gesture.

The service will be held in the chapel conducted by a celerbrant, After the service we will be invited for a cup of tea and a sandwich in the room next door, when the family are ready to go to the cemetery, we will be asked to form the guard of honour with the dogs outside the door. dogs will not be allowed inside the chapel.

It would be pleasing to see if we can get one dog per handler to be in line between the door of the chapel to the hearse on Jacks final departure.
(Dont forget to exercise your dog prior and bring a doggy bag just in case.)

This will be a final way to say farewell to Jack.

John,

Are you wanting Labrador's only. We will bring a dog if you want, but it would be a Goldie.

Hi Allison, This is open for all the dogs that Jack has an association with, come one come all. It would be good to have a decent line up

Thanks

I personally don't have any photos, but Chris and others have plenty to post.
Jack's send off was amazing , well over one hundred people and all breeds of Gundogs gave him a great send off.
It was a fitting tribute to the Ledgend we knew as Jack.
Steven, was remembering all Jacks quirks, one in particular was he asked him to get all the duck weed of the sinkers attached to the decoys he had put out, and to make sure the thrower pegs were at a precise angle.
Every one of us that were lucky enough to know and have Jacks company and his undying love of the sport and dogs in general are better for it.
His friendship and influence on our family will be remembered for ever.
We need more Jack's in this world.
Why is that we only get to catch up with old friends and foe's at Funerals @ weddings ??
Pauline Bruce and Steven.

I think old Jack would of been overwhelmed by the turn out and a guard of honor a fitting tribute to a great man.
God speed Jack you will be sadly missed.
