The GSP Club Vic is the club that is intending to run the Beginners Test in conjunction with the Gundog Club training day in March 2013. Early thoughts are that the Gundog club will run a training day in the morning and the GSP club will run the Beginners in the afternoon. The GSP club has put together a schedule and applied to the VCA to hold the Beginners as an extra event on the retrieving trial calendar for next year. More details next year but keep in mind

As Xmas rushes on, don't forget to let us know if you intend coming to the January training day. We need a rough idea of numbers to organize a well structured and useful event and to also have enough equipment and helpers available. Camping available on the Saturday night for those that would like to make a weekend of it.

Thanks,

Gareth Tawton

Hi All,

Repsonse to the training day has been great. Below is some details for Sunday 13 january

Register 8.30 am for a 9am start. tea and coffee will be available.

Bring your dog, a bowl and water plus your chair. Also bring your own food, we will have a BBQ available for use to cook some snags or something for lunch if you like. If a couple of people have a gazebo they could bring along that would be great as it may be hot (probably will be!!!)

As mentioned earlier anyone wishing to come up on Saturday is more than welcome to camp the night.

Where: We will meet at 390 Pethericks Rd Goornong

Goornonong is just North of bendigo.

Coming from Melbourne travel up the Calder hwy and take the second kyneton exit. Signs will say Lake Eppalock. Turn left on the exit then turn right back over the hwy heading towards Redesdale. Just after the pub on right in Redesdale turn Left. Follow this to roundabout in the middle of the paddock and turn right. You are now headed for axedale past the back of Lake Eppalock which will be on your right. At the Eppalock Kiosk turn right to Axedale on the Kimbolton-Axedale Rd. At Axedale cross over the McIvor Hwy. This is the Axedale - Goornong Rd. Travel approx 15km till you see a small brick church on your left, after the church turn left onto the Barnadown rd. About 100m turn right onto Pethericks Rd (gravel). Follow this till the bitumen then a further Km or so on the left is us. Red Brick House Cream shed. If your lost call Gareth 0418 482 342.

See you then,

Gareth

HI All,

The first in a series of training days being held by the VGC was held on Sunday. Approximatley 50 people attended representing a massive 13 different breeds. We had Labs, GSP, Wei, Visla, Lagotto, Cocker, Golden, Flatcoats, English Pointer, Irish Setter, Irish water spanial, Springers to name a few. Our thanks to Field and Game Australia who also advertised our event on their website and face book page.

After a short theory session attendees where divided into groups for raw beginners, marking and handling. Handlers where given the opportunity to work their own dogs on various excersises and marking tests and drills. They were also able to watch experienced handlers and dogs perform various drills. John Lawton from Specialised Dog accessories had a stand selling various training aids which was well recieved.

Also thanks to Karl and Lesley Britton, Rick Price, Richard Carr, Garrick Bridges, Greg and Anna Playdon, Trevor Stevens, Siobhan Tawton, Chris Van Eckland and Noel Eltringham for helping making this a great day. Hope I didnt forget anyone!!!

Stay posted for some photos and we look forward seeing everyone again in a months time.

Thank you to VGC and especially Gareth & Siobhan for the use of their property, plenty of helpers as Gareth mentioned and a great turn-up
of many new faces, hopefully new triallers in the making, everything ran smoothly and judging from the comments I heard will be back for
the next training day.

Well done Gareth & Co. I have been getting positive feed back all day. Everyone is excited about the next training day in February.
I think they are all so motivated they will put in a bit of homework before then.
Sorry I missed it but it was worth while as Zita & Trooper hopefully will be parents by 17th March --- St Patricks Day!
Yes Gareth, more lovely Golden Retrievers

2nd Victorian Gundog Club Retriever Training Day - Sunday 3th February

Following the successful training day at Bendigo on Sunday 13th January, VGC will be holding the second of the three days at St Annes Winery, Myrniong which is near Bacchus Marsh.

Hopefully we will see all those who attended the first day plus some more people who would like to receive expert guidance on training their dogs to retrieve. As before, we will be providing assistance to suit the handlers’ and dogs’ level of competence – surely increased with practice for those who attended at Bendigo!

To enable us to properly plan the day, please register your intent to attend by emailing: pwyorifeld@harboursat.com.au or phoning Prue Winkfield : (03) 53687264.

Here are the details for our 2nd Training Day on Sunday 3rd February.

Directions to St Anne's Winery, Myrniong: Take the Western Freeway past Bacchus Marsh until you reach the Greendale, Pykes Creek turn off. Take the off ramp and turn left at the top follow the road and you will see the entry to St Anne's on your right. Coming from Ballarat, take the Pykes Creek, Greendale turn off turn right then right again back over the freeway and follow the road to the winery. Then follow the signs to the parking area.

The gate will be open at 8.30 with the day commencing at 9.00am.

Please note that there will be absolutely no smoking, for obvious reasons, and dogs are not allowed anywhere near the winery buildings and their car park unless secured in a vehicle.

There is plenty of shade and water but still bring water, tie down peg and lead for your dog and chair and lunch for yourself. Plus anything else you usually take to doggie activities! We are looking forward to the day and seeing everyone there.
