How To Build A Working Gundog Workshop


The Working Gundog Club Inc. (NSW) is holding a comprehensive 2 day weekend workshop that will focus on developing gundogs to become competent competition retrievers.

The workshops will be conducted by accomplished gundog breeder and trainer Mr Gareth Tawton of Victoria.

WHEN: Sat 14 & Sun 15 March 2015.

WHERE: Branxton NSW, in the heart of the fabulous Hunter Valley (2 hrs drive from Sydney).
Un-powered camping will be available on site and accommodation is available nearby.

WHAT WILL BE COVERED:
Discussions and demonstrations will cover important aspects of caring for and preparing dogs for competition including how to build drive & enthusiasm plus other essential groundwork for young dogs. Training principles will introduce handlers to proven yard and field drills that improve marking ability and depth perception in dogs. Practical techniques for introducing dogs to blind retrieves and developing memory skills will be demonstrated. The workshop will finish with building multiple retrieves, and some water work may also be conducted time permitting. Printed handouts will be included.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Anyone from absolute beginner to intermediate competitor is guaranteed to become a better gundog handler and benefit from this genuine expert advice as a result of attending. Dogs are welcome, however note that practise sessions are not included during the workshops.

HOW MUCH: $60 per person which covers both days of training.
WGC members & non-members are welcome to attend.

Thanks to everyone for their interest in this workshop, we have had a fantastic response so far. If you've been thinking of coming but haven't registered yet please do it soon as we need to workout final numbers for catering etc. See Registration details in the post above.

If you can only come one day, that's ok just put which day after your name in the registration form (cost is $40 for a single day).
