The very recent passing of William (Bill) Loftus was announced at a Forum of NSW RAFT Judges today. No details were available at the time. I did not know Bill personally but am aware of his significant contributions to the sport of retrieving both an accomplished Labrador breeder and trialler and also as tireless member / contributor of the Labrador Club of NSW, the Gundog Society and RAFT NSW.

Bill was entered into the RAFT Hall of Fame as a Prominent Person in 2009 and his profile can be seen here.

The announcement was followed by a minute silence, which given the gathering, was very fitting. If anyone can expand on his life and times in retrieving I would be interested.
