New rubbers for launcher

Postby Garrick Bridges » Sat 09 Oct 2004 6:21 pm

Can anyone tell me where I can get replacement rubbers for a launcher? Also, how do others go about attaching the metal 'jiggers' to the ends?
Thanks,
Garrick

Hi Garrick

You can get the rubber from dive shops - they are used in spear guns. Or you can buy them ready made up with the hooks fitted on the ends from John Lawton in Victoria. Try 03 9743 3788.

Garrick,

You can also buy "whole length" rubber from a dive shop and make up rubbers for a thrower from it. This the cheapest way but of course the most work. A 3inch nail and a sinker with a hole for the nail to fit thru can be turned into your hook. The hard part is getting the round sinker with the nail thru it up the inside hole of the spear gun rubber. Once you have mastered this then just bind the rubber with some venesian blind cord or if you have a binding tool stainless steel wire is better. You will have a GREAT time mastering this the first couple of times. Good luck
