Firearms Licence Requirements

Postby Kirsty Blair » Sun 18 Dec 2016 4:41 pm

Hi all,

It's been a long time since I entered a Retrieving Trial but, all going well, I will be back next year. Can someone please give me an update on the requirements for a firearm licence in each state? I let mine lapse a fair while ago...

Many thanks
Kirsty

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking Kirsty, In Victoria you need a valid reason to apply for a shooters license, but I imagine that you are not planning on getting a Vic shooters license. In regard to competing in retrieving trials, for beginners and novice we allow handlers to compete without a license and to use a shooter instead. Restricted and all age you are expected to hold a shooters license

Thanks Diane. That's exactly what I was asking. Whether you need a shooters licence to compete.
