Working Achievements in Pedigrees

I have been conversing via email with a friend in America, and have just been informed of the degree of "titles" "acknowlegements" and other designations that are available on pedigrees over there.

We were specifically talking about Golden Retrievers, but, apart from FC (Field Champion) AFC (Amateur Field Champion) MH (Master Hunter), JH (junior Hunter), issued by the AKC; there are others. The United Kennel Club has prefix titles such as HR (hunter Retriever) and HRCH (Hunter Retriever Champion.

Then the Golden Retriever Club of America also has WC and WCX. Then there is ** and *** after a dogs name. The ** designates that a dog has completed any stake at any field trial. Not necessarily placed, just finished. The *** indicates that the dog has earned QAA (Qualified All Age) status, by placing 1st or 2nd in a qualifying stake, or by placing or getting a JAM at a Championship stake or licensed field trial.

OD indicates Outstanding Dam, and OS, Outstanding Sire. These indicate that a dog has sired or a female has produced 3 or more pups that have earned titles at an advanced level in conformation or performance.

FDHF is also a GRC of America designation for the Field Dog Hall of Fame.

These titles or otherwise, on a dogs pedigree must be an enormous benefit to persons looking for a pup with field generations behind it.

Food for thought, maybe, for our Australian pedigrees.
