Rules for the Conduct of Retriever Ability Tests for Gundogs

RULES FOR THE CONDUCT OF RETRIEVER ABILITY TESTS FOR GUNDOGS
(Formerly known as GUNDOG WORKING TESTS)
Delegates to the October 2010 ANKC Conference ratified the new Rules for the Conduct of Retriever Ability Tests for Gundogs (RATG), formerly known as Gundog Working Tests. The new Rules become effective 1 Jan 2011 and a copy may be found on the ANKC Website (http://WWW.ANKC.ORG.AU) under About ANKC, Rules, Retrieving and Field.
The key features of the new Rules are;
A new name: Rules for the Conduct of Retrieving Ability Tests for Gundogs.
Associate Dogs of a Gundog breed will be encouraged to compete.
Definition of Game: The use of either pigeons or dummies will be optional at the discretion of the host Club, but must be advertised in the Schedule. If pigeons are to be used, these will be provided by the host Club. Competitors will be responsible for providing their own dummies. Details as to the weight, size and colour of dummies may be found in the new Rules.
The use of Firearms or similar devices will not be permitted.
Titles will be offered at the both Novice and Open level. These Titles will be gained by successful completion of a prescribed number of passes, independent of whether they are achieved on dummies and/or pigeons.
Exercises at Open level are a logical extension of those mandated at Novice level.
Blind Retrieves are no longer included, but a Double Mark Retrieve is a new option at Open level.
Interim Judging Arrangements
Existing GWT Judges who have been directly involved in the development of the new Rules will automatically be granted a Licence to Judge RATG events.
Existing RT Judges who have been directly involved in the development of the new Rules will automatically be granted a Licence to Judge RATG events.
Existing GWT Judges not directly involved in the development of the new Rules may be required to pass a written test on the new Rules. An “agreed” Examination Paper has been prepared. Please contact your local NRAFT Delegate and/or Member Body for further details.
Existing Retrieving Trial Judges may be granted a RATG Licence if they pass the written Examination and attend an Obedience Trial in company with a “recognised” mentor.
Existing Obedience Judges may be granted a RATG Licence if they pass the written Examination and attend a Retrieving Trial in company with a “recognised” mentor.
Qualification requirements for persons who are not licensed to judge either Obedience or Retrieving Trials have been developed. Please contact your local NRAFT Delegate and/or Member Body for details.
