Hi all

Today the ACT Gundog Society held it's first Retrieving Ability Test for Gundog at the Tuggeranong Dog Training Club grounds in Canberra. Bob Tawton judged both Novice and Open and I would like to thank Bob for accepting the club's appointment to judge. The weather was just perfect, cool in the morning and by the time we had completed the last run, it started to warm up. A number of dogs then enjoyed cooling off in the dam.

Novice attracted 13 (4 passes) competitors and Open 4 (4 passes). A number of handlers had not previously entered any kind of retrieving trial and all of the new handlers had attended our training/mock trial day earlier in the year. A wide variety of gundog breeds were represented which was fantastic to see - GSP, Vizsla, Brittany, Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, NSDTR, Red & White Irish Setter, Weimaraner Long Hair, Cocker Spaniel and English Springer Spaniel. I believe that congratulations are in order for Pam Lyons GSP (Shimmer) who gained her third pass in Novice and therefore her Novice Title. Well done Pam.

Results for the day were:
