Postby Margaret Hall » Sat 07 Jul 2012 1:55 pm

The Victorian Gundog Club is hold a RATG in conjunction with their Retrieving Trial on September 1st. we would love to see as many people as possible come and enjoy the trial and also take the opportunity to see what goes on at Retrieving Trials. Camping is available at the trial site, which is at Switzerland Road, Yea, not that far from Melbourne.
We will also be holding a Picnic test on Sunday in conjunction with the Golden Retriever club which people can enter on the day and get a taste of Retrieving trials in a relaxed environment.
Come along and enjoy the weekend in the country with lots of experienced triallers to talk to and also enjoy the talk around the camp fire on Saturday night.

We look forward to seeing you at Yea in September.

Margaret,
just wondering what the picnic test consists of. Is it something like a retrieving beginners test?
cheers, Gail Phoenix

Hi Gail
Yes a Picnic test is like a Beginners test but even less formal. We would set up a couple of runs of about 50 meters and the dogs would be competing according to the Retrieving Trial rules.
The Picnic test allows entries to be taken on the day rather than sent in on formal entry forms etc. and is a much more informal way of conducting a competition as an introduction to Retrieving.

We are also hoping to be able to have some training on Saturday afternoon, after the Retrieving trial has finished for those people who come up to compete in the RATG and this can include introducing various Retrieving concepts to your dogs, also getting them used to pigeons as game and giving you the opportunity to talk to some of our All Age triallers and getting hints and tips for training your dogs.

So lets hope we have some nice weather by September which will make it a great weekend.

Hi Everybody
As long as we don't have any more heavy rain the trial site is looking good, but we won't be driving across any paddocks.
Camping will be at the regular place but when you come through the second gate after the quarry we will be camping on the right, just near the cattle yards.

Steve and I will be there at about 1pm.

See you there Margaret Hall
