Just want to add a few words about the GSP trial. As judge for the Open it was nice to see a good number of dogs now coming through to the Open level, and with 20 dogs entered in the Novice we should start to get bigger entries in Open in the future. The day was a bit showery and cold but we were finished by lunchtime. The dogs in the Open all worked well in the first two exercises and it was a pity that they didn't do so well in the Retrieving exercise.
They were given a double mark retriever as Exercise 4 and this proved difficult for most of the dogs to complete as they wouldn't go through a bit of cover and work far enough back for the dummy. A couple of dogs just missed out on finding the dummy and ran out of time.
All dogs were give the option to try Exercise 3 which was a Walk-up retrieve. The two dogs who completed the double mark did well in this retrieve and the other had a go and most did the retrieve with no problem.

A bit more practice on the retrieving side and most of these dogs will be doing well in the future.
Thanks to Russell and Steve on helping me set up the runs and to Peter Alan for being my steward on the day.
Thanks to Kerry for the lovely hot soup and organizing things, and to the club for the appointment.
