W.A. EASTER ALL AGE TRIALS RESULTS

The Easter trials were held once again at our traditional site at Arthur River. The hot summer and grazing sheep had caused the paddocks to be quite barren, but the river as always, had plenty of water. The camping area next to the river had ten caravans, tents and campervans making use of the opportunity to camp on site, and nightly get togethers for a chat and drink were the ritual, and even some clay shooting for those interested. The forecast for the weekend was for hot days in the 30's, not exactly what was hoped for, but we have had it worse down there. The results for the two days are as follows:

April 11th. 2009
Retrieving Club of W.A. All Age Stake

Run 1: Double mark, doublefall (First mark across the river (memory mark), then long mark and send the dog. Doublefall was thrown from in front of the dog and left to right. Pickup order, long mark, doublefall, memory mark.)
Run 2: Walkup Double Mark and blind. (Dog in hide while handler fired at cast blind into the river. Handler then returned to the dog and began walkup to f.p. First mark 60' to right on land. Second mark landing ahead in the river, screened by trees. Pickup order either of the two marks, then the other mark, then the blind.)
Run 3: Blind, Mark, two bird. (Dog in hide. Fire at blind, call dog, fire at mark in river. Send dog for mark, then fire at two bird as dog returns. Send dog for blind, then two bird.)

Run 1: Double mark with doublerise on 2nd mark. (First mark thrown into open paddock, second mark/doublerise thrown in timbered area with large amount of fallen dead timber. Pickup order mark/doublerise, then memory mark in paddock).
Run 2: Walkup Mark into dam, single mark & nono bird on dam. (Walkup mark thrown in full view to land in dam. Nono bird was placed behind the fall up the wall of the dam. Handler to walk to f.p. where a mark beyond the dam wall was thrown high, to fall amongst dead fallen timber. Pickup order walkup mark, single mark).
Run 3: Double blind and mark. (Dog in hide. Fire at two blinds, one placed at a stump, the other long blind about 100' left through dense timber on a mound near a dam wall. Call dog to heel then fire at a mark thrown to fall around 45' right of the short blind. Pickup order, short blind, long blind, mark).
