Does anyone have directions to the Vic IWS trial this weekend?

Leanne - it is at the quarry - Singers Lane (or Rd) Take Colac Road from Ballarat and it is on the right after Napoleons and before Enfield. It is in the Vic Country Roads.

Thanks Prue.

An interstate trialler was mentioning last weekend that it is common practice in the other states for competitors to enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope with their entries and the Trial Secretary sends out directions to the trial.

I think this is a great idea and don't know why we don't do it in Victoria.

Does anyone else think this is a good idea?

Tassie we do!

Hi Leanne
in Tassie we have to include SSA envelope not only for directions but for our numbers (which are still used down 'ere). It also serves as a good means of communication for catering etc.
cheers
Susie

Hi Susie

It sounds like a great idea to me. It would also lift some of the burden off the Trial Managers the week prior to the trial when everyone's ringing for directions. As if they aren't busy enough the week of the trial!

Hi Leanne

The return envelope is widely used in NSW and around here it is usually the trial secretary and not the trial manager who sends out the envelopes - which leaves the trial manager to concentrate on getting all the gear together and liaising with property owners etc.

On a related point, I find the "LOCATION: Phone the Trial Manager during the week prior to the Trial for directions" section of some trial schedules to be quite challenging when travelling interstate for a trial. It is difficult to know from this which part of the state the trial is being held in. I think it would be great if to give a region on the schedule e.g. "Braidwood area" if the property information isn't available.

Cheers, Jason.

Hi Jason

I agree 100%. That was one of the points raised the other weekend. I think it has just become standard practice in Victoria and no-one has bothered to change it. It does make it challenging for interstate travellers.

Hopefully some Trial Managers / Secretaries will read this and give it some thought for their next schedules. I know at times it isn't possible but there are quite a few trials where at least a general area could be given.

Has anyone got the results for this trial? I know there were seveal QCs given out - would it be possible to list these as part of regular results? Nice bit of encouragement to people.

PS to my previous message - the winner of the Restricted Stake (Rod Drew) wins the Ian Wakefield Memorial Perpetual Trophy which was donated by Kadnook Kennels. Each entrant at the trial also received a leaflet containing some of Ian's poems - a lovely thought.

Did Jack's All Age win with Rusty give him his RT Ch title too?? If so, very well done to Jack! Just great to see someone who has been in the trialling game for so many years still able to title dogs and wondering just how many dogs he has now titled to RT Ch as well as FT Ch. Not many competing in both aspects of gundog work.

Maureen - Rusty got her title by coming second at the SA Championship so this was her second AA win. Jack also has a young bitch in Novice - hope I can still do that when I am into my 70s! Prue
