ANRTC W.A. ANZAC DAY TRIALS RESULTS -CORRECTION

Postby Kerry Webster » Thu 26 Apr 2012 6:33 pm

[/b]The ANRTC held their traditional trials for Anzac Day at Brookleigh and after a toast to the Anzacs and a minutes silence in respect of their sacrifice, the trial was underway. Another hot and humid day was forecast (most unusual for April in W.A.), so, to all the competitors who stewarded either in the field or on the gun during the running of the three stakes, we all say, well done.
Disappointingly, the Novice and Restricted entries were well down, which may reflect the reluctance of handlers to enter dogs under the conditions for runs on this day. All Age had most of the presently competing dogs entered, not that it was a long day for the majority of dogs, with over two thirds of the field being eliminated on the first run with an apparent eyesight problem with the marks !!

Heather ran a very successful raffle with a host of prizes to choose from, and of course the Scots chose the bottle of Black Label Scotch. Drinks and food were supplied by Sandra and Kelly as usual, under a gazebo this time while the caravan undergoes repairs, but good scouts that they are, they were well prepared with a portable oven and stove top to keep food hot. Special mention must go to Peg Malcolm who has been involved in the ANRTC for a very long time. Peg was knocked down by a car recently, and she is laid up in hospital with a severely broken ankle. We wish her a speedy recovery from her injuries, and sympathize with the hospital staff during her stay. Only kidding Peg. :P

Due to the late withdrawal of one of the entries in Restricted, the stake continued without the required four owners. Because of this Rob Jowett and Shumba are still the winners of this restricted stake, but will not be able to apply for the Novice Retrieving Dog Title. The ANRTC apologises to Rob for this oversight.
