One of the features of this trial where we endeavour to concentrate on and feature Novice and beginners to our sport, is that we have a Novice Aggregate Score for the highest scoring Novice dog over the 2 Novice trials. Our winner was:

Peter Simmons and his Pointer Quanna Bella Apache on a total of 288 points. Well done!

As mentioned, we encourage as many new people to our sport as we can and to this end, a Beginners’ class was conducted by Paul Hamson and Steve Bath with much success if we can go by the great feedback. About 15 people and their dogs attended and seemed keen to continue. Thank you, Steve and Paul.

An unofficial Beginners/Picnic Test was conducted for those who wished to participate and the results were:
1. Alana Hopson’s Cocker Spaniel Cadbury
2. Alana Hopson’s Cocker Spaniel Coco

As well, we conduct Novice and Open RATG at this trial with both stakes being well patronised. The feedback from there was also very positive with most saying they are hooked on doing it, picked up many valuable hints and were so appreciative of competing on “real” trialling grounds that included the use of water and where the tests were run on game.

On a personal note, we’d all like to thank Sharyn Sargison for making all the purchases for the breakfasts and the Saturday evening barbecue. No mean task! Thanks also to our 3-hat chef, Mark Sargison, for cooking up a storm. And thank you all for contributing so generously to our “pooled” table with luscious soups, salads and desserts. The convivial atmosphere was enjoyed by all in spite of the appallingly hot weather all day Saturday and then the windy conditions for the clay shoot and the meal.

Finally, the WGC Committee, and especially Joe Law who organised it all, would like to thank Graeme Parkinson for volunteering his time (3 days), travel and accommodation expenses to assist in assessing our 3 aspiring judges (Wayne Outtrim and Mark Sargison for All Age and Jeff Griffiths for Restricted) in their quest for elevation.

Thanks to all for a great weekend!

Thanks, Mark and Sharyn, for sharing your wonderful property.
