The return of Easter trialling in Victoria was a huge success. New grounds thanks to Field and Game in association with the Gippslamd triallers and a hard working sub committee allowed the weekend to go off without a hitch.

I believe Saturday evenings duck shooters won the award for the most birds. Richard Daren and Josh (didnt think we allowed Tasmanian's in this) were hands down winners.

It was great to have some Teal and Woody's available for the trial I am sure the handlers and certainly the dogs enjoyed this. Thanks to the various guns that helped provide these.

Saturday's dinner under the marquee was excellent and I am sure everyone finished Saturday feeling fed and fattened (well done Dean and Rocky).

The kids enjoyed both an easter egg hunt and retrieve over the weekend. I am not sure if we had more pups or kids at the trial. I counted something like 8 triallers kids plus a few ring ins which was matched by 9 or 10 pups under 16 weeks including labs, GSP's wiemeraners and I think a Golden. The future looks pretty good. The biggest chocoholic award I suspect went to a young Wilke lad. We haven't quite worked out if that comes from the mothers or fathers side, but for a kid who didnt really know about easter eggs before the weekend he had the whole situation covered by the end!!!!

A big thanks to Simone Wilke and Wayne Outrim for filling in some very important roles at the last minute.

I hope our interstate guests from SA, WA, Tas, ACT and NSW enjoyed trialling Victorian style and had a great taste of what we hope to present for the National in September.

Thanks to all the competitors and associated family members who helped over the weekend it made trial managing an easy and enjoyable job.

Regards,

Gareth Tawton

Well done to all involved with organising the trial, many helpers each day made it a huge success.
Donations of $440.50 over the weekend was gratefully accepted by Field and Game Australia for the wetlands trust.

It was a GREAT trial and I'll definitely be back next year. Having ducks was a real treat, I know my boy looked at the pigeon twice after picking up the duck. It was also a great weekend for my young dog who got to experience a whole new terrain which he proved was just fine for running over.

So a BIG thankyou for putting the trial on and providing such a welcoming and easy going environment.
