Results Flatcoated Retriever Association Trial held 17/5/2009 at Mt Duneed

The trial was held at Don Lester’s property where fortunately there has been enough rain fall that all of the dogs were tested in swimming water. The weather was reasonably kind to us with a fairly strong wind, the sun shone and the rain held off until after we’d finished packing up.

Entries for the trial were low, not unexpectedly so as there has been a drop in numbers across the lower fields by natural attrition with dogs winning their way up to higher stakes. We had to have a change of judge for the Beginners but due to the low entries and some bitches coming into season just prior to the trial’s commencement it was decided by the committee to run the Beginners and Novice together. A huge thanks to Jim Hargreaves who stepped in to replace Trevor Stevens but in consultation with both of them a decision was made for Noel Eltringham to become the judge of Novice and Beginners. As we had one competitor entered in both events Noel chose different runs for each stake. A brief training session was held prior to the commencement of these stakes as we had two new competitors entered and we wanted to give them the opportunity to be shown what was required before throwing them into competition.

Our thanks to everyone who assisted with the running of the trial and to our property owner Don Lester who so generously allows us the use of his property.
