Victorian S & R Field Trials

Postby Rachel Greaves » Fri 22 Aug 2008 2:52 pm

The Victorian Gundog Club held (rabbit) trials for Spaniels & Retrievers last Saturday and Sunday (August 16th & 17th) at Yaloak
The terrain was challenging for dogs and spectators - a steep, wet and muddy hillside with plenty of thick cover.
Lunchtime entertainment on Saturday was supplied by the 4 wheel drive experts trying to extract themselves + trailers from the mud    :D

Saturday - Novice Stake
Judge Jerry Cole (NSW)10 entries - 2 absent
No result

Sunday - Open Stake
Judge Patrick Torrens (SA)
10 entries - 4 absent
1st Donny Provest - Wrangham Sexy Rexy (ESS dog)
2nd Steve Sapsead - Shikagilly Belle Madonna (ESS bitch)

They were all English Springers except Jack Montasell's two labradors.
Jack found the terrain extremely hard going (as did we all) and, sensibly, pulled out at lunchtime on the first day. It was a pity as his dogs were going well.
