Pointing Breeds FT Club NSW P&S Trials 27/28 June 2009

After years of drought and dust it was a change to have to cope with a lot of water and mud, but after good rains during the week, triallers had been warned to bring wet weather gear. The trial property had a mixture of dry and green cover with sheets of water in parts and soils soft underfoot. While conditions were not great for handlers and officials, the dogs obviously enjoyed getting out in the rain. The entry was seven Pointers, three English Setters and a Gordon Setter. On Saturday there were good numbers of birds, well spread out with dogs having to work hard for their finds. Five dogs performed well and were taken into the second round, but eventually only one dog satisfied judge David Coleman's criteria for the award of championship points. On Sunday, after more rain overnight and a change of paddocks, at the end of the first round it was obvious the birds had moved from the area and were few and far between. "Blackie" the previous day's winner had several finds, roading the fast running birds well, but finally judge Ray Goody decided there were not enough birds to achieve a result.
Results:
Saturday - First - Shane Monaghan's Pointer dog FT CH. QUANNAH COMMANCHE STORM (Blackie)
No other placings
QC - John Gilligan's English Setter bitch RUNANSET LANDSLIDE (Sage)
Sunday - No awards
