Please note that the Working Gundog Club of NSW is trying out a new approach to "value add" to our trials for novice competitors. On the Saturday of our May trial we will run two novice stakes - one in the morning and a second one in the afternoon. Combined with another novice on Sunday, this will give a total of three novice events over the weekend, and should hopefully make the travel a little bit more worthwhile.

I would be interested in feedback about the idea now, at or after the trial.

Cheers, Jason

Jason, Feedback on the "double header" idea - a great move. This has been done several times in past years. The United Gun Dog club used to do it. I remember Geoff Cole and Jack Lynch judging about 5 years ago.
I recall going out in the first round in the morning and winning in the afternoon. Provides an opportunity to run the dogs under different judges on the same grounds and fine tune handling in areas a handler may come unstuck or nervous and forget.
Unfortunately we can'e make that weekend (work committments), but would definitely support it otherwise (and in the future if Andrew's dog is still in Novice).

I neglected to mention that Wayne Outrim's wins in restricted on both days with his GSP Warwiba Braveheart gives Charlie his restricted title (from three starts). Congratulations Wayne and Charlie.

Cheers, Jason.

Double ditto, Gail. Well done, Wayne and Charlie. It's a great result.

It was a good weekend for GSPs across the country.

Congratulations to you, Gail, and Lotti on your All Age wins in SA. And to Jadine and Magnum on their second place in All Age. We have a soft spot for the Oakridge dogs, owning one ourselves (Magnum's dam).

And in Novice, congratulations to Tony and his bitch on placing first in NSW and to the other GSP placegetters - Neville and Kara (another Oakridge girl) in SA and Darryl and his Brysnif dog and Alan and Romeo in Qld.

Congratulations to the GSPs! Especially Wayne - what an achievement but now the hard work starts. There are considerable disadvantages in getting through Restricted too quickly!

Congratulations Wayne and Charlie on gaining your RRD so quickly, well done. Good luck with All Age, your boy sure is keen, which is great to see, I love these enthusiastic GSPs!

Just wanted to say thank you to all who helped me when I was judging at the trial, I know I said thanks at the trial but many of you really gave that bit more help due to my sickness and also in the ACT too. Operation day is end of June and hopefully only a small cut and not the big one! 2004 I drowned my truck, last year Kahla had 12 puppies and this year I get appendicitis!!! Maybe I will get a full year in next year!!!
