The Fairburn Cup (formerly known as the Effingham Cup) was held yesterday (April 14) at Bill and Andrea's property on the West Tamar. This is a Tas Gundog Trial Assoc Club event run on dummies and held as a pipe opener for the trialling season. We had a great turnout with new dogs and new (or haven't seen them for a while) faces and great weather - yes really.
Beginners over two runs was judged by Roy Davies. We had seven starters with two finishing. Reg Castles' Annie (Lab Bitch) was first on 105 points and Susie Partridge's Rosco (Lab Dog) second on 102 points (yah).
Novice was judged by Scott Castle (judge in training), again two runs, with eight starters and two dogs finishing. First was Sid Drew's Remy (Lab Dog) on 125 points and second was Bill Hepburn and Andrea Fratangelo's Max (Lab Dog), handled by Josh Wells on 79 points.
Roy again judged the Middle Age stake (not novice not all age, just sort of in the middle). Five starters with three dogs finishing over three runs. First was Susie Partridge's Stumpy (Lab Dog) on 148 points (yah), second Kel Wilkinson-Reed's Scoota (ESS Dog) on 145 points and third, Sid Drew's Ruby (Chesapeake Bitch out of retirement for the day) on 137 points.
