South Australia has applied to host the 2014 National Retrieving Trial on Friday 29th, Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st August.


The State Championship will be on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th August 2014

Hello Gang,

I am new to the working retreiver scene. I have been involved for a number of years in search and rescue and I am now looking to working retrievers for both future search dogs and also an opportunity to get involved in the sport. Just a quick question regarding the dates. Are these trial dates current at all as i could not find the dates on the Dogs SA web site. Also is this the best site to get the info for the gundog trials in South Australia.

Hi Alex,

yes, the dates for SA trials are correct. The dates were revised at the end of 2012 for the 2013 season.
Always looking for more people to join us is this great pastime.
The best initial contact for SA retrieving training and trialling is through the "Retrieving & Field Trials Club of SA Inc".
They have a website & it contains details of the committee.
A good person to start with would be Michael Mason, current president.
I believe the club is holding 2 training days in April. These are aimed at raw beginners. Also many members are willing to help new people to the sport.

It would also be worthwhile contacting the Gundog Club of SA via their website. The club is running retrieving ability tests & a beginner test in May. Last year they ran some RATG training classes in the months prior to the trials.

I have checked out the SA club and noticed that training dates are in April. Being a keen dog trainer is there anyone / group that trains on a weekly or more regular basis. April is a long way off for someone keen to know more about the sport and training methods etc
