Pointing Breeds FT Club NSW Pointer & Setter FT 26 July 2009

It has been another difficult year to conduct Pointer & Setter field trials, and as access to suitable paddocks was a problem, the Club decided to run only one Open Pointer & Setter field trial last weekend and to use the other day for field and retrieving training. Both days were well attended, and on Sunday judge David Coleman had an entry of 7 Pointers, 3 English Setters and 1 Gordon Setter. The day was overcast and cool, and the trial paddock was a patchy mixture of dry grass and green growth. Dogs had to work hard to locate stubble quail that were running fast in the windy condtions. Seven dogs were taken into the second round but only one dog was able to perform to the standard required for the award of championship points at an Open stake, and that was R&J Goody's FT Ch. Quannah California Badja who clocked up her third win for the year.

This was the last trial weekend for 2009. The Club has picked up several new properties so we are hoping for an easing of the drought and a return to better seasonal conditions next year.
